TNEB Field Assistant Recruitment 2025

If you are interested in getting appointed as a field assistant under the TNEB, note that the application is available on the official website of the TNPSC from September 3, 2025. The deadline to apply for this recruitment drive is October 2, 2025, and the correction window will be available from 6 to 8 October 2025.

Vacancy Details 

The TNPSC has announced the number of vacancies for recruitment of Field Assistants. These are a total number of 1794 positions; go through the listed points to check the category-wise number of positions.

Eligibility Requirements 

To apply for recruitment as a field assistant under the TNEB, it is mandatory that you meet the eligibility criteria. Go through the listed points to check if you are eligible.

  • You must be a permanent resident of India and live in Tamil Nadu.
  • You have passed the SSLC Exam from a school recognized by the TNDGE with Tamil as a language subject.
  • You have obtained a National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the electrician or wireman trade from the National Council for Training in Vocational Trades (NCVT) or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).
  • The age limit is 18 to 32 years as of September 3, 2025; the age relaxation is applicable as per Tamil Nadu state government rules:
    • Persons with Benchmark Disability: Up to 42 years
    • Ex-Servicemen: Up to 50 years
    • Destitute Widow: Up to 37 years
    • BC (OBCM), BCM, MBC/DC: Up to 34 years
    • SCs, SC(A)s, STs: Up to 37 years

Individuals who have NTC or NAC in the electrical trade under the center of excellence scheme can apply for this recruitment.

Required Fee

To apply for recruitment of a field assistant under the TNEB, a candidate is required to pay the examination fee of 100 rupees. If you haven’t paid the one-time registration fee in the last 5 years on the TNPSC official website, you need to pay 150 rupees using one of the provided payment gateways.

Individuals who belong to a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, or are a Person with a Benchmark Disability or a Destitute Widow are exempted from the payment of the examination fee. OTR fee payment is mandatory for all male and female candidates.

Selection Process

Written Exam

Paper I – General Knowledge & Tamil Eligibility

  • Subjects: Tamil Language, General Studies, Aptitude, Mental Ability
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Maximum Marks: 150
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer

Paper II – Trade-Specific Knowledge

  • Subjects: Electrician/Wireman trade-specific knowledge
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Maximum Marks: 300
  • Question Type: MCQs
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer

Total Marks: 450

Physical Test

Tasks & Terms:

  1. Pole Climbing & Cross Arm Fixing
    • Height: 9 meters
    • Time Limit: 8 minutes
    • Description: Climb the pole, fix a cross arm, and descend safely.
  2. Plaiting of Rope with Conductor
    • Time Limit: 2 minutes
    • Description: Plait the rope correctly with a conductor
  3. Lifting & Carrying Cross Arms
    • Weight: 3 cross arms (~35 kg each)
    • Distance: 100 meters
    • Time Limit: 1 minute

Note: Candidates get only one attempt per physical task.

The date for the written exam is announced; the TNPSC will conduct it on November 16, 2025, and the physical test may take place in January 2026.
